Man shot to death in Ponca City

Seen <a></a> Law officers are investigating an overnight shooting death, and police remain at the scene of the crime this morning. The man, who is in his 40s, has not yet been identified, said Sherry Bowers, Ponca City police spokeswoman. Bowers said officers were called to the 100 block of S Oak Street about 3 a.m. after a report of shots being fired was made. When officers arrived they found the man lying outside of a duplex, Bowers said. No one has been arrested, and the death is in the early stages of a homicide investigation, Bowers said. A medical examiner is en route from Stillwater, Bowers said. Porter is 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs about 156 pounds. Porter was charged in Kay County District Court in 2008 with assault and battery with a deadly weapon. He is awaiting a jury trial on the charge, according to court records on Oklahoma Supreme Court Network's website. Bowers said that case is unrelated to the Friday homicide.
