Oklahoma City police release sketches of armed robbers
Seen on newsok.com: UPDATE 4/8 Oklahoma City police arrested a woman Wednesday in the armed robbery of a woman and her children at a west metro motel. Sarah Ann Martin, 23, was booked into Oklahoma County jail on multiple complaints, including kidnapping and armed robbery, Wardlow said. Her bail is set at $107,000. A judge signed an arrest warrant Monday, and police found and arrested Martin on Wednesday at a northwest Oklahoma City residence, Wardlow said. Martin and an unidentified man are accused of bursting into a room at Motel 6 on Interstate 40 service road near Meridian Avenue about 4 a.m. March 31, Wardlow said. The woman who was staying in the room told police two people held her and her children at gunpoint. She said the pair told her to call people she knew and ask them to come to the motel so the pair could rob them as well. The woman escaped with her children when her husband showed up and the robbers chased him, police said. No serious injuries were reported. Police suspect Martin and the man in at least three similar robberies since February, Wardlow said. Authorities are looking for the man and released a sketch of him last week. Police ask anyone with information about the robberies to call Crime Stoppers at 235-7300. Callers may remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward. Oklahoma City police released sketches of a man and woman who burst into a motel room early Wednesday and robbed a woman and her two children at gunpoint. The sketches show a black man and a white woman who police said are believed to be suspects in similar robberies. The latest robbery was shortly after 4 a.m. Wednesday at Motel 6 on the Interstate 40 service road near Meridian, Sgt. Jennifer Wardlow said. The initial call was from the front desk after two children reported that their mother had been kidnapped by a man with a gun, Wardlow said. "The children said they had been asleep on the bed and woke up and heard a male voice telling them to get on the ground," she said. Apparently the mother had gone to the store and when she was re-entering the room, she felt someone kick her in her back, Wardlow said. At that point, the woman pulled a knife on her and the man entered the room with a gun and began asking where the money was. The robbers told the woman to make phone calls to other people she knew and get them to come to the room so they could be robbed also, Wardlow said. One of the calls was to the woman's husband. When the husband showed up, the wife yelled at him not to come into the room and the robbers began chasing him, allowing the woman and children to get away, police said. The man in the sketch is estimated to be about 30 years old, about 6 feet tall and about 175 pounds. The woman is about 25, about 5 feet, 4 inches tall and about 140 pounds. Police think the two have committed three similar motel robberies since February, and a robbery last week at a Waffle House in the northeast part of the city. Anyone with information about the robbers is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 235-7300.
